Sordid Lives

In Del Shores’s riotous dark comedy about white trash, a family from a small Texas town must come to grips with the accidental death of the elderly family matriarch during a clandestine meeting in a seedy motel room with her much younger, married neighbor. The woman’s family must deal with their own demons – including wooden legs, Thelma and Louise, a fervent desire to stop smoking, and Tammy Wynette – while preparing for Mama’s funeral.

The original stage play won 14 Drama League Awards and the film starring Beau Bridges, Delta Burke, and Olivia Newton-John became a cult classic, spinning off 12 episodes of Sordid Lives: The Series.
